Hi! I’m Valerie, an occupational therapist passionate about supporting children to build skills and confidence to live their most meaningful lives. I have a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto.
I have over six years of experience working and volunteering with children of all ages and abilities, including extensive experience working one-on-one with autistic youth to develop academic, communication, and practical life skills, and clinical experience supporting neurodivergent youth with sensory processing, self-regulation, mental health, and functional skill development.
I strongly believe in using a neuro-affirming and strengths-based approach in my practice, striving to create a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where I can collaborate with families and their child to support their child’s growth in different areas of their life. This may include developing skills related to self-care (eating, dressing, toileting, hygiene), fine motor, emotional regulation, sensory regulation, communication, and executive functioning.
Outside of my work, I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, going to the gym, traveling, and more. I believe that exploration, movement, and play are just as important for children as they are for us all!
