Emma Lei
Occupational Therapy
Hi, I'm Emma! I graduated with a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of British Columbia after completing my Bachelor of Kinesiology with a Minor in Psychology. I am passionate about working with children, youth, and their families to empower them to engage in meaningful activities and to support them in reaching their goals.
I have over 10 years of experience working with children of all abilities. I worked as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist in clinical and community settings and as an Education Assistant and Adaptive Recreation Programmer in schools and community centres. In my practice, I strive to create safe and collaborative environments, while using a play-based and evidence-based approach, where families feel heard and included in the process. I also have formal training in using the Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) approach with individuals with motor challenges.
I am passionate about ongoing professional development and actively engage in training to stay up-to-date with current research and practices. I have conducted academic research on screen time guidelines specifically for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and completed courses related to cognitive flexibility in children with autism, sleep health, sensory processing in children, and the importance of play.
In my spare time, I love trying new food, playing board games, kayaking, and walking in nature.
I am fluent in English and Mandarin.

Occupational Therapy
Hi! My name is Jenn and I graduated from the Master of Occupational Therapy program at the University of British Columbia. I also hold a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biology (Cell Biology and Genetics) and Psychology.
I have spent the last 15 years working with children in all different settings. From being an educational assistant in schools, to a program manager at a local non-profit dedicated to inclusive play, to now working as a pediatric occupational therapist at BC Children's Hospital. No matter where I am, or in what capacity, I am passionate about seeing children and their families thrive. As an occupational therapist, I get to focus on supporting your child towards engagement and participation in the things that are meaningful to them- in the ways that are meaningful to them! In my practice I aim to create safe spaces where children know they are deeply valued, understood, and supported to reach their goals. I hope to achieve this through a collaborative, play-based, and neurodiversity affirming approach.
I am also committed to keeping up to date with the most current research and evidence-based practices. Some of my recent training includes completing DIR® 101 (an introductory course on DIR® and DIRFloortime® models for supporting autistic children), participating in Sherna Marcus' Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing: Managing Complex Issues workshop, and I am in the process of completing the Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) Comprehensive Workshop by ICAN.
Outside of work, you can find me spending time with my family, baking bread, playing boardgames, as well as training to become a lactation consultant!

Occupational Therapy
Hi, my name is Ryan! I hold a Master of Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia.
Over the past five years, I have worked with children and youth in both therapeutic and recreational settings as an Adaptive Recreation Programmer, Personal Support Worker, and Camp Leader. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of how children learn, play, and engage in meaningful activities. As an Occupational Therapist, I can work with your child and family to develop and strengthen skills in areas such as self-care (eating, dressing, toileting), emotional and sensory regulation, executive functioning, fine and gross motor abilities, and other everyday activities that are important to them.
I am dedicated to creating play-based, goal-oriented sessions that are tailored to each child's unique strengths and interests. I value culturally responsive and family-centred care, and strive to foster a safe and collaborative environment where children and families feel supported in working toward their goals.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing sports such as basketball and running, spending time with family and friends, travelling, and trying out new things.

Occupational Therapy
Hi! I'm Valerie, an occupational therapist passionate about supporting children to build skills and confidence to live their most meaningful lives. I have a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto.
I have over six years of experience working and volunteering with children of all ages and abilities, including extensive experience working one-on-one with autistic youth to develop academic, communication, and practical life skills, and clinical experience supporting neurodivergent youth with sensory processing, self-regulation, mental health, and functional skill development.
I strongly believe in using a neuro-affirming and strengths-based approach in my practice, striving to create a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where I can collaborate with families and their child to support their child's growth in different areas of their life. This may include developing skills related to self-care (eating, dressing, toileting, hygiene), fine motor, emotional regulation, sensory regulation, communication, and executive functioning.
Outside of my work, I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, going to the gym, traveling, and more. I believe that exploration, movement, and play are just as important for children as they are for us all!
